Driveways 4 You replaced an uneven cobblelock driveway in Rathcurragh, Newbridge, with a professionally installed tarmac driveway. The transformation included correcting the sub-base and driveway falls, with silver granite risers framing the existing planting area and complementing the granite driveway frame.
Project Overview
The existing cobblelock driveway at this Rathcurragh property had become uneven over time. Inadequate preparation of the underlying sub-base during the previous installation had allowed the paving to settle.
The project involved removing the old cobblelock, preparing a suitable foundation and establishing the levels required for the new tarmac driveway. Granite detailing around the driveway and existing planting area brought the finished entrance together.
Removing the Uneven Cobblelock Driveway
The first stage was to remove the old cobblelock paving, allowing our team to address the foundation beneath it.
Replacing the visible surface alone would not have addressed the inadequate preparation underneath. The groundwork was therefore an important part of the transformation.
Correcting the Sub-Base and Driveway Falls
With the paving removed, the sub-base was corrected and prepared to provide a suitable foundation for the new driveway.
The driveway levels and falls were checked and established before the tarmac was installed, helping surface water move away rather than collect in low areas.
This preparation also allowed the finished surface to be coordinated with the granite frame and surrounding property features.
Silver Granite Risers Around the Planting Area
Silver granite risers were installed to frame the existing planting area alongside the driveway. They provide a defined boundary between the planting and the new surface.
The silver granite detailing complements the granite driveway frame, creating a consistent appearance around the entrance while retaining the existing planted area.
Installing the New Tarmac Driveway
Once the sub-base and levels were ready, the new tarmac driveway was installed and finished to meet the surrounding granite detailing.
The continuous dark surface creates a clean contrast with the granite, replacing the uneven cobblelock with a neatly finished entrance and parking area.
