Driveways 4 You transformed the entrance to this home on Kilnamanagh Road, Dublin 12, replacing worn cobblelock and a lawn with a larger resin-bound driveway. The installation combines Manhattan International grey resin with natural silver granite framing, planting-area risers and matching bullnose entrance steps.
Project Overview
The existing cobblelock driveway had become uneven, worn and discoloured. A lawn occupied part of the front garden, while the front wall restricted the area available for the proposed driveway.
The project involved removing the old paving, lawn and front wall, preparing the ground and creating a coordinated entrance with a larger driveway, defined planting area and new granite steps.
Removing the Old Driveway, Lawn and Front Wall
Our team removed the existing cobblelock and lawn to open up the front garden for the new layout. The front wall was also removed to accommodate the larger driveway.
With the old surfaces cleared, the ground could be prepared around the proposed driveway boundary, entrance steps and retained planting area.
Ground Preparation, Levels and Falls
The ground was carefully prepared, with attention to the levels and falls required for the new driveway. The preparation also took account of how the finished resin would meet the granite borders and entrance steps.
A prepared tarmac base provided the supporting surface for the resin-bound finish. Planning these layers alongside the stonework allowed the individual parts of the installation to meet at the intended finished levels.
Natural Silver Granite Borders and Planting Risers
A natural silver granite frame was installed to define the driveway. Its lighter colour provides a clear contrast with the customer’s chosen grey resin finish.
Matching granite risers were installed around the planting area, separating the soil from the driveway and bringing the garden border into the overall design.
Using coordinated granite details across the borders, planting area and entrance helped create a consistent appearance throughout the front of the property.
Granite Entrance Steps With Full Bullnose Edges
New natural granite entrance steps with full bullnose edges were installed to complement the driveway frame and planting-area risers.
The rounded front edges provide a distinctive finishing detail, while the silver granite ties the entrance steps into the surrounding stonework.
The steps and borders were installed before the resin surface, allowing the final finish to be laid neatly against the completed granite details.
Installing the Manhattan International Resin Finish
The customer selected Manhattan International, a contemporary grey resin-bound aggregate blend.
The grey is dark enough to contrast with the natural silver granite without overwhelming the entrance. Together, the materials create a clearly defined driveway with coordinated borders and steps.
With the supporting base and stonework ready, our team laid and trowelled the resin-bound finish, working carefully around the granite frame, planting risers and entrance steps.
The Completed Resin Driveway
The finished installation replaces the previous combination of uneven cobblelock and lawn with a larger, coordinated driveway.
The Manhattan International grey resin forms the main surface, framed by natural silver granite. Matching planting-area risers and bullnose steps complete the entrance and connect the driveway with the house and garden.
Coordinated Granite Finishing Details
The side view shows how the silver granite frame continues around the resin surface and meets the planting-area risers and entrance steps.
These details give the larger driveway a defined shape while retaining a dedicated area for planting beside the new surface.
