Driveways 4 You transformed an old cobblelock driveway in Diswellstown, Castleknock, replacing loose paving with a professionally installed Anchor Bay resin driveway. The installation included sub-base preparation, corrected falls, a compacted tarmac base, new granite framing and granite risers around the planting area.
Project Overview
The existing cobblelock driveway at this Diswellstown property had gradually loosened and spread, leaving gaps between the paving blocks. Weeds had become established in these gaps, making the entrance increasingly difficult to keep tidy.
The project involved removing the old paving and preparing the driveway for a new resin surface. Granite framing and planting-area risers were incorporated into the design to create a defined finish around the new driveway.
Removing the Old Cobblelock Driveway
The first stage was to remove the loose cobblelock paving. This allowed our team to assess and prepare the foundation beneath the driveway before installing the new surface.
Rather than covering the existing paving, the work addressed the construction beneath the finished driveway, with attention given to the sub-base and the levels required for the new installation.
Sub-Base Preparation and Driveway Falls
With the old paving removed, the sub-base was checked and prepared for the new driveway. Suitable levels and falls were established to guide surface water towards the intended drainage points.
A tarmac base was then installed and compacted below the finished level of the new granite frame, allowing space for the resin-bound surface to be laid above it.
Natural Granite Framing
A new granite block frame was installed to define the driveway and create a clean boundary around the resin surface.
The tarmac base and final resin finish were coordinated with the granite framing so that the different elements of the driveway met at the intended finished levels.
Granite Risers Around the Planting Area
Granite risers were installed around the planting area to complement the driveway frame. This gave the planting a defined edge while bringing a consistent material through the surrounding detailing.
The matching granite features help connect the driveway surface with the garden area, creating a coordinated appearance across the entrance.
Anchor Bay Resin Driveway Finish
Once the base was ready, the customer's chosen Anchor Bay resin-bound finish was installed to complete the driveway.
The finished surface provides a continuous appearance within the granite frame, replacing the old loose cobblelock with a neatly finished resin driveway.
