Driveways 4 You created this new resin-bound driveway on Clonard Road, Crumlin, transforming a front garden with a pedestrian gate into a driveway entrance. The project included removal of the front wall and gate, construction of new side walls, preparation of the sub-base and installation of a grey resin finish with natural silver granite borders and planting-area risers.
The Original Front Garden
The property originally had a front garden enclosed by a wall and gate, with a concrete path providing pedestrian access to the house. A steel bar fence divided the garden from the adjoining property.
The new layout required the existing entrance and garden to be opened up, with replacement side boundaries defining the driveway.
Removing the Front Wall and Pedestrian Entrance
The front wall and gate were removed to open the entrance for the proposed driveway. The lawn and existing concrete pathway were also cleared as part of preparing the garden for its new use.
This changed the layout from an enclosed front garden with walking access into an open driveway area extending towards the house.
Constructing New Boundary Walls
New walls were constructed on both sides of the driveway to define the boundaries and separate the finished area from the adjoining properties.
The completed walls were rendered and finished with light-coloured capping, creating a coordinated edge around the new driveway.
The boundary work was planned alongside the surface layout and planting area so that the different elements would come together as one installation.
Preparing the Sub-Base
With the old garden surfaces removed, our team established a solid sub-base for the new driveway.
The preparation took account of the proposed finished surface and the granite framing at the entrance. This groundwork formed the foundation for the resin installation rather than simply placing a new finish over the previous garden.
Natural Silver Granite Framing
A natural silver granite frame was installed around the driveway, including the entrance where the new installation meets the public pathway.
The lighter granite provides a clear contrast with the grey resin and defines the shape of the finished surface.
The frame also establishes a consistent finishing detail along the sides and across the entrance.
Granite Risers for the Planting Area
Matching natural silver granite risers were installed to define a dedicated planting area beside the driveway.
This retains space for planting while separating the soil from the resin surface. Using silver granite for both the frame and risers connects the garden detail with the driveway entrance.
Installing the Resin-Bound Finish
Once the supporting construction and granite details were ready, the grey resin-bound surface was installed.
The resin was finished flush with the surrounding silver granite frame, creating a neat transition between the aggregate surface and natural stone.
The grey finish complements the house exterior, while the lighter granite gives the driveway a clearly defined border.
The Completed Driveway Transformation
The finished project replaces the previous enclosed lawn and pedestrian path with a coordinated resin driveway.
New side walls define the boundaries, while the silver granite frame connects the resin surface with the entrance. Matching risers retain a planting area within the new layout.
